Oh my goodness!  I found a real treat!

This was on Youtube and has to be shared...a great one to play while treadmillin'...good message for the kids, too.

"12 Steps to raise a juvinile delinquent"

Begin with infancy to give the child everything he wants. In this way he will grow up to believe the world owes him a living.		Quarrel frequently in the presence of your children. In this way they won’t be so shocked when the home is broken up later.
When he picks up bad words, laugh at him. This will make him think he’s cute.		Give the child all the spending money he wants. Never let him earn his own.
Never give him any spiritual training. Wait until he is twenty-one and then let "him decide for himself".		Satisfy his every craving for food, drink, and comfort. See that his every sensual desire is gratified.
Avoid the use of "wrong". He may develop a guilt complex. This will condition him to believe later, when he is arrested, that society is against him and he is being persecuted.		Let him read any printed material, and listen to any music he can get his hands on. Be careful that the silverware and drinking glasses are sterilized, but let his mind feast on garbage.
Pick up everything he leaves lying around. Do everything for him so that he will be experienced in throwing all responsibility on others.		When he gets into real trouble, apologize to yourself by saying, "I could never do anything with him."
Take his part against neighbors, teachers, and policemen. They are all prejudiced against your child.		Prepare for a life of grief. You will likely have it.

Knowledge is Power...Ignorance is Dangerous...

     In our hands lie in the hearts of our children and it's largely us, moms, who groom their little hearts to maturity.  It's mostly in our actions that teach them the right way to go...and it's largely the results of our decisions that pave the way for them to have the opportunity to get somewhere.

My kids laugh about that in our house but, well, there is a lot of truth to that statement.  I'm not a woman's libber, just one that believes that we are very influential in our homes, country, and world.  We have influence on friends, family, the men in our lives, and are the most people influential in our children's lives.

     We, like I mentioned before, are just so busy taking care of business that we don't have the information to do, or even the time to think about, much more than what is immediately in front of us.  With that ability to influence, comes a responsibility to find and handle the truth properly, and the right to enjoy the rewards and personal satisfaction of carrying out those truths. 

     I believe that we, with all that ability to make a difference, aren't operating at our full potential.  I think that with all that we need to know, and don't know, can hurt us more in time than what it seems will bog us down in the present.

Kids and the Sense of Entitlement...

Do you know anyone who has a child, or children, with a sense of entitlement? 

You know, when they think should receive something in which they are capable, or at lease, ought to be at their age, of attaining themselves?  I look around and see high school kids getting cars bought for them, I mean, nice ones,  BMW's, Jeep Grand Cherokees, etc.  Kids think their parents are "supposed" to buy them a car, or in the case of a neighbor near-by who's son only wanted a girlfriend who's parents had money so he could marry and live off her parents.

They really need to grow with a sense of responsibility for self so they don't expect to rely on others to provide for them.  Let's make a conscious extra effort, even if a little bit at a time, to protect our kids from this selfish attitude...for THEIR SAKE   ...and ours.

Mother’s Day: May 10, 2009

The first Mother’s Day observance was a church service in 1908 requested by Anna Jarvis, of Philadelphia, to honor her deceased mother. Jarvis, at an early age, had heard her mother express hope that a day to commemorate all mothers would be established. Her mother had also expressed the sentiment that there were many days dedicated to men but none to mothers. Two years after her mother’s death, Jarvis and friends began a letter-writing campaign to declare a national Mother’s Day observance to honor mothers. In 1914, Congress passed legislation designating the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day.
