My kids and I frequently speak of the rapture spoken of in the Bible. I remember when I was around 12 years old the church I went to at that time played the movies "Time to Run" and "A Thief in the Night". They were portraying what the bible refers to when Jesus snatches the Christians into Heaven. There was a song that I remember from one of those movies, or a portion of, that goes something like...
one disappears and one's left standing still
I wish we'd all been ready
It's too late to change your mind,
the Son has come and you've been left behind.
You've been left behind."
The movies left a lasting impression of what that day when the Christians just "disappear" and what it may be like for those still here.
We, the kids and I, lightly giggle about what to do before getting on an airplane. You want to make sure the pilot's not "saved" so that the plane we're on doesn't crash. Oh, but, then again, we'll be taken up, too and really won't have to worry about it!
Where will you be when the rapture takes place?
The basis of those movies originated from the Bible ... (taken from David Hocking's ministrywebsite here)
"But of that day and hour no one knows,
no, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only."
(Matthew 24:36)
"Then two men will be in the field:
one will be taken and the other left.
Two women will be grinding at the mill:
one will be taken and the other left."
"Watch therefore, for you do not know
what hour your Lord is coming."
(Matt 24:40-42) (Prophecies: The coming "Rapture"... please don't get left behind)
"Therefore you also be ready,
for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."
(Luke 12:40)
We are warned to "Watch!" The Bible gives us many warning signs so we will know when we are getting close. Yet, we will never know "the day nor the hour." However, this generation which now mocks God and His Word will someday soon know "the power of His anger" . . . (Prophecies: The coming "Apocalypse" and Armageddon ... UPDATED)
For as the Lightning comes from the East
and flashes to the West,
so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
Matthew 24:27
